Under the denomination PR-90 the polyvalent sleeper was designed by DSI SLEEPER DEPARTMENT (predecessor of P-TEC) in 1989. It allows to change the gauge by only relocating the rails without exchanging sleepers. The new PR01 designed by P-TEC reflects the consequent enhancements in manufacturing high quality concrete sleepers. It was designed and developed according to EN13230 and UIC 713. It easily passed all required tests, executed at INSTITUTO EDUARDO TORROJA. The results exceeded by far the demanded values. The extremely waisted shape which only can be achieved grace to the tendons’ crossed orientation is an outstanding feature providing among other high resistance against lateral movement. Especially in curves the waisted shape can improve stability of the track.
