P-TEC supplies all the components for manufacturing slab track sleepers.
The lasting solution
In the area of high-speed rail traffic, slab tracks have become established as an alternative to standard sleepers
in traditional ballast roadbeds. The different slab track concepts either make use of (concrete) troughs into which the sleepers are cast,
or precast slabs are installed, which already contain the necessary rail seats.
Pioneering achievements
Already during the development phase of slab tracks,
DYWIDAG investigated plant concepts for the efficient production of special slab track sleepers.
Back in 1972, DYWIDAG received a contract from Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) to develop a slab track.
For this purpose, a test track was built in cooperation with the Technical University in Munich.
The development of this sleeper system for high-speed trains on ballastless tracks was an outstanding pioneering
achievement that became widely known as the “Rheda system”. The results of this research work formed the basis
for successful further slab track developments. Meanwhile, this design principle for slab tracks has been implemented
in countless operational railways worldwide. It can be applied on soil roadbeds, in bridges, and in tunnels.
